How Electricity Works

Atoms are made from 3 particles.

Protons and Neutrons are inside the Nucleus.

Electrons travel around the Nucleus.

Electrons are positively charged.

The Copper Atom has 29 Protons, 36 Neutrons, and 29 Electrons.

Atoms that can pass electrons are called conductors.

Atoms that cannot pass electrons are called insulators.

Copper is a conductor.

Rubber is an insulator.

Electricity or electrical flow travels from negative to positive.

Voltage is the pushing force in a circuit. Like pressure in a water hose.

Current is the flow of electrons.

Current is measured by Amps.

Resistance is a restriction to the flow of electrons.

When a conductor is wrapped into a coil it will generate a magnetic field when current travels though it.
